DISHWASHERS
Buying Guide Installation Details Fun Facts

Buying Guide

The vast majority of dishwashers are 24 inches wide and fit under the countertop.  Portable units are an option if you don't have a place under the counter.  Some of these units come with a table on the top which adds to their usefulness.

Energy efficiency is another important feature.  Look for the Energy Star label.  An Energy Star dishwasher will save you money on operating costs.  In addition, most dishwasher have energy saving cycles that further reduce hot water and electricity use.

Next, consider the tub size.  Large families may need an extra large capacity.  The tall tub feature makes it easier to wash cookie sheets and large items.

Is quiet operation important?  The delayed start feature can serve the same purpose.  This feature starts the dishwasher a number of hours after it is set, allowing the dishwasher to run when you are not around.  Food soil sensors and hard food disposers cut down on maintenance and assure good results.

Dishwashers front panels come in different colors such as black, white, and stainless.  The stainless fronts take a little more effort to keep clean.
